
Phongsupthavy Group Company, in collaboration with Construction Joint Stock Company 47 (HOSE: C47) and Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 3 (EVNPECC3), recently signed an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for the Nam Neun 1 hydropower project. The signing ceremony, held on November 22, 2023, in Vientiane, Laos, marked a significant milestone for the project, valued at approximately USD 185 million.
C47 and EVNPECC3 are both affiliated companies within the Vu Phong Energy Group, highlighting the group’s continued involvement in vital energy infrastructure projects.
The Nam Neun 1 hydropower project is located in Xiengkhuang province, Laos, and will consist of two units with a total generating capacity of 124 MW. This substantial project includes crucial infrastructure elements such as dam construction, a spillway, diversion tunnels, a water intake gate, tunnels, a power plant, and a distribution station. The construction phase is anticipated to span 48 months.

Phongsupthavy Group is a leading private enterprise in Laos’s energy sector, boasting a portfolio of projects totaling up to 2,000 MW. The group maintains a 24% stake in EDL-Generation Public Company, a state-owned subsidiary of Electricite Du Laos (EDL).
Beyond the Nam Neun 1 project, C47 is actively engaged in other significant infrastructure developments in Laos, including the Nam Phak hydropower project, valued at approximately 800 billion VND. Domestically, C47 is involved in projects such as the Expanded Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant, the Phu Phong Weir Dam, the Tan An Irrigation System – Dap Da, the Coastal road section from Cat Tien to Diem Van, the Ta Hoet water reservoir project, and the Ka Zam water reservoir project.

The signing of this EPC contract underscores C47’s expertise and professionalism in managing and executing both domestic and international hydropower and irrigation projects, aligning directly with the company’s strategic development plan for 2020-2025. This demonstrates a commitment to delivering reliable and efficient hydropower solutions.
The project is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2027, with the generated electricity intended for export to Vietnam.
